Don’t have time for 10 but I can do 5. This may not be the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me but it sticks out in my memory (I think I told you about this when it happened, actually).
So many moons ago there was a girl I worked with and in the course of conversation one day I related a story about how a friend had bought all the comics I had on hold at my local comic shop after we had a row (look at that British slang creeping into my dialect, anyway…)
A few months later my birthday rolls around and I find out that she had gone into my local comic shop to buy all the books I had on hold. I don’t believe she had ever been in a comic store before this and actually brought a friend of hers along who had because she had no idea what the protocol was for what she was trying to do. She was even made fun of by one of the staff while there (Whom I later berated the s*** out of) and because I didn’t have any books on hold at the time she bought me a gift certificate.
This really touched me because she felt the desire to get me something for my birthday, based her choice on a conversation we had had months ago that she remembered and went outside of her comfort zone to accomplish her goal.
She also got me a can of “The Batman” Spaghetti-O’s” that I held onto for YEARS. Pity we’re not really friends anymore. Familiarity bred animosity in our case.
